29th November 09 - Barcelona 1-0 Real Madrid
CR9 returned to action against Zurich in the Champions League in midweek coming on as a substitute. He along with Lionel Messi were both rumoured to be on the bench for this match but both started the 159th El Clasico at the Nou Camp. Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave Barca the victory with a goal on 55 minutes heading home Daniel Alves cross.

9th November 09 - Ron could be out until January
News reports this morning are stating that Cristiano could be out for the next 12 games if his troublesome ankle needs surgery. Ronnie has already missed the last 8 matches, playing his last match in a Real Madrid shirt at the end of September. Madrid's medical staff will be monitoring the situation over the next couple of weeks to see if the bone has healed properly.


17th October 09 - Ronaldo Update
Cristiano Ronaldo's career at Real Madrid has got off to a flying start with the world player of the year scoring 9 goals in his first 7 games in all competitions, 5 goals in 5 games in the league. Ronaldo has taken no time to find his feet in Spanish football and the weight on his shoulders seems to have lifted after a difficult pre season campaign.

Ronaldo picked up an ankle injury playing for Portugal against Hungary last weekend. Real Madrid are unhappy and feel the player shouldn't have started after he was left out of the match against Seville for the same reason. CR9 is likely to be out of action for up to 4 weeks. 8th August 09 - Toronto 1-5 Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal from open play in a Real Madrid shirt as the 'Galacticos' ran riot at the BMO Field in Canada. This was the first opportunity Madrid's fans have had at seeing there three big attacking signings, Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema, all play together. Raul scored two with Ronaldo, Benzema and Robben all scoring one a piece. Highlights from the game below.


9th July 09 - Ronaldo 'Team Player'
Cristiano Ronaldo has declared he is more of a team player now than he used to be at the start of his Old Trafford career. The Portuguese winger went on to say “There’s no doubt I’m less egoistical now. For sure, four years ago I was only thinking about completing a move by scoring a goal.

“But the experience has helped me to understand that when you are in a team and you become a team player, greater objectives are obtained. In Madrid, people will see a better Cristiano.

“It’s true that the Premier League is faster and more physical and you don’t get to stop for even a second. In Spain, you see more of the ball and the quality of the play is much more valued here.

“For that reason, I believe that with the players that Madrid will have, things are going to go well. I will work hard to adapt as quickly as possible and I do not think that it will be difficult to co-exist with so many other stars.”

Real Madrid kick off there pre season campaign on 26th July when they take part in the Peace Cup. They play Al ittihad first and two days later they play Liga de Quito in there 2 group games at the Santiago Bernabeu.


7th July 09 - Ronaldo 9 - Unveiled at the Bernabeu
Cristiano Ronaldo was given the welcome of all welcomes as 80,000 Madrid fans packed into the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium along with over 200 of the world's press organisations. The world record transfer is now compete and Cristiano will wear the famous number 9 shirt worn by legends such as 'the original' Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stefano.


1st July 09 - Ronaldo Deal Done
Manchester United have confirmed that the deal with Madrid has been concluded and Real have deposited the £80million in cash into United's bank account. The player is expected to be unveiled at the Bernabeu on July 6th in front of fans and the press.

Alex Ferguson took the opportunity to break his silence on the deal to talk about Ronaldo, he went on to say "Cristiano has been a marvelous player for Manchester United. His six years at Old Trafford have seen him develop into the best footballer in the world.

"His contribution has been a major factor in the club's success in that time and his talent, his ability to entertain and his infectious personality have enthralled fans the world over. "Everyone here wishes him well in his future career."

22nd June 09 - Ronaldo deal to be done by June 30th
The world record transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid will be completed by the end of the month. His agent has come out today and stated that Cristiano has not spoken to the media or given any interviews since Manchester United accepted the bid. He also states that any newspaper, particularly those in England, have been making up false quotes and they are not to be taken seriously. It seems Ronaldo will wait until he is officially unveiled before he speaks about his switch to La Liga.

11th June 09 - Man Utd accept £80 million bid for Ronaldo
Manchester United have finally decided to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and have accepted a world record unconditional offer of £80m. The world player of the year has been the subject of constant speculation after coming close to leaving last year only for Sir Alex to put his foot down. Now with another summer of unrest and media frenzy it seems Fergie is ready to cut him loose. Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to play for Madrid and the move is now down to the player agreeing terms.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won his first major award for player of the year as voted for by his fellow players from 40 countries around the world. Ronaldo is tipped to win a whole host of individual awards this year after his phenomenal 42 goal haul helping United win the Premiership and Champions League last season.
